Description
The DuraCel XL is an exceptional high efficiency filter utilizing a glass fiber woven media. It is designed for use as the final filter stage in machinery intake systems where rigid construction and long service life are essential. DuraCel XL filters operate at air volumes up to 2500 cfm and are capable of withstanding temperatures up to 302°F (248°F continuously).
Model XL-60 measures 24" x 24" x 12" (nominal) with an initial resistance of 0.45" w.g. @ 2000 cfm. Rated 70% average dust spot efficiency. Maxiumum dust holding capacity is 1376g.
Construction
The DuraCel filter is constructed of all metal cell sides with spot welded face guards and header flanges on the air entering and air leaving sides.
The media pack of the DuraCel filter consists of a new high efficiency glass media of graduated density that ensures full depth loading. The filter media is folded between aluminum separators in a pleated design. The separators are spot glued to the adjoining media panel and then the leading edge of the separator is placed in the inside of the media fold. This unique construction feature prevents the separators from moving and puncturing the media.
Energy Efficient
The DuraCel filter offers users a choice of operation strategies to obtain the highest efficiency for their application.
Where long runs between the main element changeout are required, the DuraCel filter's high dust holding capacities provide a filter life exceeding any other rotating machinery barrier filter available. Longer runs eliminate downtime and maintenance cost for filter changeout.
Where low operating pressure drop is the primary concern, the DuraCel filter, because of its capacity, will operate at a lower average pressure drop than other high integrity barrier filters. Lower operating pressure drop means fuel savings to the user.
Where filter housing size must be kept to a minimum or where airflows are periodically increased.
Installation and Maintenance
The DuraCel filter installs directly into a filter bank housing. The filter is completely disposable when the final pressure drop value has been reached.
The DuraCel filter is designed to be interchangeable in the field with other AAF designs of high efficiency unit filters without any alteration of retaining devices. There are no wire baskets or other retaining devices required to change out the filters.
All DuraCel filters are designed to fit in standard filter frames. Once the filter is placed in the frame, filter retaining clips are positioned on the header flange and tightened with an adjustable screw fastener. The prefilter is held in place with a wire grid that fits into the curled ends of the retaining straps. Other filter latching arrangements are available if necessary.
When installing DuraCel filter cells, be sure to insert them in the proper direction to airflow as indicated by directional arrows located on the unit. This is important because of the graduated density media
